A brief overview of the Sciphone series of mobile phones.

This article will hopefully give you a little more information regarding the Sciphone brand. Sciphones were first released several years ago starting with the Sciphone i68. China is currently the sole manufacturer of the Sciphone brand, meaning that all Sciphone's are exported for sale worldwide. The i68 quickly replaced the previous model, the Hiphone, to become the most popular low cost touch screen mobile on the market. Seeing the success of the i68 Sciphone soon released the i9 and i9 3G.

Buying a Sciphone can often be confusing: with lots of different models available and many unconfirmed rumors floating about on the internet concerning which is the best. The most popular model is still the i68: which, like the majority of Sciphones, offers Dual Sim Phone functionality, Quadband network frequency, completely unlocked sim slots, a touch screen interface and dual battery packs. Also popular are the slightly more expensive Sciphone i9 and Sciphone i9 3G models. Both these models feature additional applications and games (the i9 3G having the largest number.)

One of the major advantages of Sciphone mobiles is that they offer dual sim functionality. This means you can insert two separate sim cards into the two slots in the back and run them at the same time. Obviously you can't answer two phone calls at once (that would be impressive since you only have one mouth!) You can however continually receive texts from both networks, make a call on one and then the other without changing anything over and turn off one sim and leave the other active.

Don't be confused by the plus symbols after a model of i68 or i9. This is merely a strange way of designating the version number. Much like second and third generations of the iPhone the Sciphone i68 and i9 are constantly being improved with more reliable hardware. Don't worry too much about hunting down the latest version, updates are usually minor and If you buy a new Sciphone its most likely you'll be getting the latest version anyway.

If you're constantly losing your mobile phone (perhaps you have really shallow pockets) a Sciphone could be perfect for you because its so inexpensive. You're not going to be constantly fretting about damaging or losing a phone that cost you a lot of money. While still looking modern and stylish (a SciPhone could be easily mistaken for a leading brand at a distance) the Sciphone i68 is one of the cheapest mobile phones available in the UK currently; currently retailing for under 60 (including shipping!)
